We have recently worked with a longstanding care home client to carry out solar energy feasibility studies of all their sites and begin to install solar PV to their homes.
We have worked with the client for over 10 years, procuring energy contracts for their care
homes. We also look after their compliance, manage their IT and phone systems and take
care of their sustainable waste separation and washroom services.
The challenge
Care homes are high energy users and with gas and power costs rising, along with ongoing
market uncertainty, The client was looking for a more sustainable solution that would
give greater control over costs as well as supply certainty.
The customer was keen to explore the possibility of installing solar PV at all of its sites, to
support its sustainability goals.
How Core helped
Core carried out a full feasibility study at all their sites to work out the cost, return on
investment and benefits of installing solar energy to supply a proportion of their energy.
Working in partnership with Emerge renewables, we priced Solar PV for each care home in
the group. A roof solar system has now been fully installed at one of their homes, which will generate 9.88 MWh of electricity a year and create annual CO2 savings of 1.91 t. The return on investment is forecast to be within 2.4 years.
The solar installation will generate a saving of 15% compared to their current electricity bills
with an estimated price reduction of £389.71 a month from day one.
What our team says
“Thanks to our extensive knowledge of the client’s business and the energy sector, we were able to prepare a solid business case to help the group evaluate and plan for sustainable energy generation. Having greater control of their energy supply will reduce their bills, protect them from uncertain costs and help their wider goals to become a more sustainable business.”
