£26K Energy Rebate for Scottish Care Home

A Scottish care home group has been refunded over £26,000 in overpaid energy costs and reduced its ongoing gas and electricity bills after working with Core Facility Service’s Glasgow energy team to uncover errors on its bills.

How we helped

The care group used multiple energy suppliers for its four sites and was alerted by Core Facility Services to the fact that some were charging for levies and taxes that the care sector is exempt from.

Core’s team of energy experts went through bills for the past four years on their behalf to uncover how much they were due in rebates.

Keith Barlow of Core said: “Seven different suppliers had been involved and some bills were charged correctly, whereas others weren’t.

“It was complex to unpick but ended up being a significant rebate for the customer, so it was well worth it.”

Our energy expertise

With energy costs on the rise, Core made sure all errors were corrected for the future.

“We have worked with many care homes over the years that have been incorrectly charged and it is particularly important that these errors are identified and resolved, especially at a time of escalating energy costs,” said Keith.

“The rebates can run into the tens of thousands of pounds and we don’t charge anything if no error is identified, making it a risk free exercise with potentially significant rewards.”
