Finalists in the Calderdale Community Spirit Awards who are struggling to fund their own tickets for the event will still be able to attend thanks to the generosity of newly announced sponsor Core Facility Services.
Core has offered to fund bursary tickets so that shortlisted charity and not-for-profit workers and volunteers can attend, even if they or their organisation can’t afford to pay for their place.
Award organiser Rachel Oates said: “Core’s decision to step in and fund bursary places is a perfect example of community spirit in action.
“Our awards celebrate unsung heroes in the not-for-profit sector and we are grateful that Core’s sponsorship means that finalists will have the opportunity to join us as we celebrate the incredible work that is being done right here on our doorstep.”
The Community Spirit Awards will be held at the Venue, Barkisland, where around 350 people will gather to celebrate those working in the voluntary sector and thank them for their contribution to the region.
Core’s sponsorship means that finalists who struggle to afford to buy their own tickets, either because the charity or voluntary organisation they represent can’t afford the expense, or because they are on a low income due to the nature of their work and find it difficult to pay for their ticket.
Core facility Services has been serving businesses and charities in the region for almost 20 years, helping them minimise costs and maximise efficiency on energy, waste and IT.
Core MD Colette Watts said: “Core has a strong tradition of working in partnership with charities and community organisations and we have a deep understanding of the dedication shown by staff and volunteers and the ongoing pressure on resources.
“We would love to see as many finalists as possible there on the night so that everyone there can show their appreciation in person for the incredible contribution they make.
The Community Spirit Awards will be on Thursday 23rd November. Nominations are open and close on the 31st August 2023.
