A landowner in Yorkshire wanted to generate revenue from unused land and turned to Core’s energy team to cary out a feasibility study on the land.
Our assessment
We surveyed the site and carried out all the necessary calculations before concluding that there was not enough land to meet the generation capacity needed for a profitable solar farm.
To successfully generate revenue the solar farm would need to power a commercial property, with the excess being returned to the grid. This was not an option in the area.
Recommendation
We recommended that the site was not viable for generating income from the grid.
We did conclude however that it would be viable for self-generation purposes to produce electricity for private and commercial use by the landowner and to achieve sustainability goals.
