More than 60 local business people turned out for the launch of Gain Kirklees, a new initiative that will bring businesses together to tackle climate change.
The event was hosted by The John Smith’s Stadium with presentations by Gareth Davies, Managing Director of KSDL, sustainability experts at Core Facility Services and Emma Woods-Bolger of One Community.
Gain helps businesses plan a complete sustainability strategy and reduce their running costs.
From LED lighting systems and Voltage Optimisation to on site renewable energy generation, Gain helps you use less and spend less.
The journey starts with a vision. Gain will work with a small executive team to define and articulate this.
Jason Taylor of Core explained that every business in Kirklees consumes energy and produces waste. By managing those services through Gain they can save money and resources and help to create a fund for community schemes.
Sustainability is closely linked with corporate values which is why employee wellbeing and engagement is an important part of Gain.
The scheme will create a grant making fund so that charities, schools, not-for-profit organisations and householders can apply for funding towards energy efficient and sustainable schemes. This is administered by One Community.
